Authorizes issuance of general obligation bonds.  Makes findings required by article VII, section 13 of the Hawaii constitution to declare that issuance of authorized bonds will not cause debt limit to be exceeded.

RELATING TO THE ALOHA TOWER DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION.

Provides funds for settlement of a claim between Aloha Tower Development Corporation and Kenneth H. Hughes, Inc., by making an appropriation from Aloha Tower Fund.

RELATING TO UNCLAIMED PROPERTY.

Requires holders of unclaimed property to remit all property with their November 1 report and deletes reference to a specific number of days in which claims must be acted upon.

RELATING TO USE OF TOBACCO SETTLEMENT FUNDS.

Extends sunset date in Act 264, relating to tobacco fund settlement, for continued use by John A. Burns School of Medicine.  Requires annual reporting by the University of Hawaii.  Reallocates moneys in the Hawaii tobacco settlement special fund.  (SD2)

Status

RELATING TO NON-GENERAL FUNDS.

Addresses the fiscal year 2009-2010 budget shortfall by transferring to the general fund a total of $           in excess balances from certain special funds.

DECISION MAKING TO FOLLOW

 

Persons wishing to offer comments should submit testimony at least 24 hours prior to the hearing with a transmittal cover indicating:

·     Testifier's name with position/title and organization;

·     The Committee the comments are directed to;

·     The date and time of the hearing;

·     Measure number; and

·     The number of copies the Committee is requesting. 

 

While every effort will be made to copy, organize, and collate all testimony received, materials received on the day of the hearing or improperly identified or directed to the incorrect office, may be distributed to the Committee after the hearing.

FAX:       For comments less than 5 pages in length, transmit to 586-6001 (Oahu) or 1-800-535-3859 (for Neighbor Islanders without a computer to submit testimony through e-mail or the Web); or

WEB:     For comments less than 4MB in size, transmit from the Web page at http://www.capitol.hawaii.gov/emailtestimony.

 

Testimony submitted will be placed on the Legislative Web site after the hearing adjourns.  This public posting of testimony on the Web site should be considered when including personal information in your testimony.
