SENATE RESOLUTION

 

 

REQUESTING THAT FUNDS BE MADE AVAILABLE AND RELEASED TO ENABLE THE HAWAII PUBLIC HOUSING AUTHORITY TO IMPLEMENT A TENANT MONITOR PROGRAM.

 

 


     WHEREAS, when disturbances occur at public housing projects and police officers are called to the premises, there is often no single person with the proper authority and responsibility to file complaints with the police officers or to handle the situation; and

 

     WHEREAS, the Hawaii Public Housing Authority has expressed a desire to implement a tenant monitor program through which resident managers would be available to address emergency repair and security issues, serve as points of contact with the Hawaii Public Housing Authority, and be responsible for communicating with police officers when necessary; and

 

     WHEREAS, in order to implement a tenant monitor program, the Hawaii Public Housing Authority requires resources to establish resident manager positions; and

 

     WHEREAS, the Hawaii Public Housing Authority desires to use funds allocated for security in its public housing projects to establish resident manager positions for the tenant monitor program; now, therefore,

 

     BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the Twenty-fifth Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2010, that funds be made available and released to enable the Hawaii Public Housing Authority to establish the necessary resident manager positions to implement a tenant monitor program; and

 


     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that certified copies of this Resolution be transmitted to the Executive Director of the Hawaii Public Housing Authority, the Governor, and the Director of Finance.
