A BILL FOR AN ACT
relating to product labeling.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Chapter 486, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to Part V to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:
"§486- Packaged lei; labeling requirement. No person shall sell or offer or expose for sale any packaged lei produced using any plant product grown outside of the state, without providing the notice required under this section. The notice shall be made by displaying on a conspicuous area on the principal display panels of the packaged lei container, a label or sign printed in bold face or other distinctive type and plainly stating that the plant product was produced in an out-of-state location, and specifying that location."
SECTION 2. New statutory material is underscored.
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on January 1, 2010.
