A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

RELATING TO information technology systems within the department of education.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  The legislature finds that technology is a key element to improving efficiency in almost any operation and that the management of human resources at the department of education is one such operation.  The purpose of this Act is to appropriate funds for an improved information technology system to help the department of education automate some of its human resource management processes.

     SECTION 2.  There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $750,000 or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2010-2011 for the acquisition and development of information technology systems to redesign human resource management within the department of education.

     The sum appropriated shall be expended by the department of education for the purposes of this Act.


     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2010.
