A BILL FOR AN ACT
MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR THE FUNDING OF AN UPDATED ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT STATEMENT AS REQUIRED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF LAND AND NATURAL RESOURCES FOR A LOW-INCOME HOUSING PROJECT.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. The department of land and natural resources has issued a request for proposals to build low-income housing along the Hanapepe River on the island of Kauai. In response, the Kauai Habitat for Humanity proposed to build the project in conformance with current code, including construction on stilts above high water and avoiding graves. The department of land and natural resources is requiring an updated environmental impact statement.
The purpose of this Act is to appropriate funds for the development of an updated environmental impact statement for a low-income housing project along the Hanapepe River on the island of Kauai, as required by the department of land and natural resources.
SECTION 2. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $50,000 or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2010-2011 for the development of an updated environmental impact statement for a low-income housing project along the Hanapepe River as required by the department of land and natural resources.
SECTION 3. The sum appropriated shall be expended by the department of land and natural resources for the purposes of this Act.
SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2010.
