A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

relating to homeless park.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  (a)  The department of land and natural resources, in consultation with the department of human services, shall establish a homeless park and campground at sand island state recreation area on Oahu; provided that the park and campground shall not require more than one-half of the total area of the sand island state recreation area.

     (b)  The department of human services shall work with the city and county of Honolulu and appropriate non-profit organizations to provide the services required of the homeless in the park and campground.

     (c)  The department of land and natural resources may adopt rules pursuant to chapter 91 to effectuate this Act.

     The sum appropriated shall be expended by the department of land and natural resources for the purposes of this Act.

     SECTION 2.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2010.
