A BILL FOR AN ACT

relating to limited benefit health insurance.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

     SECTION 1.  Chapter 431, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to article 10A be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

"§431:10A-   Limited benefit health insurance. No provision of this article enacted after July 1, 2010 relating to a policy of accident and health or sickness insurance shall apply to an accident-only, specified disease, hospital indemnity, long-term care, or other limited benefit health insurance policy, other than a medicare supplement policy, unless the relevant provision expressly states that it applies to an accident-only, specified disease, hospital indemnity, long-term care, or other limited benefit health insurance policy." 

     SECTION 2.  New statutory material is underscored.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2010.
