WHEREAS, in the first few years of the Hawaiian Trail & Mountain Club, much of the Honolulu trail system was built, connecting Nuuanu to the end of the tram line in Kaimuki, and many of these trails bear the family names of their creators; and
WHEREAS, over the past 100 years, members of the Hawaiian Trail & Mountain Club have sought to promote the preservation of Hawaii's forests and wild lands, and places of scenic, scientific, and historical interests by encouraging responsible hiking, camping, mountain climbing, and other outdoor activities; and
WHEREAS, in the spirit of good conservation practices, members of the Hawaiian Trail & Mountain Club have worked diligently to keep Oahu's trail system open by weekly trail clearing activities and educational opportunities for hikers and guests to promote the appreciation and protection of Hawaii's unique plant and animal life; and

BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-fifth Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2010, that this body hereby congratulates and applauds the Hawaiian Trail & Mountain Club on their 100th Anniversary, and expresses to them its warmest aloha and best wishes in all future endeavors.
