A BILL FOR AN ACT
RELATING TO THE HAWAII EMPLOYER-UNION HEALTH BENEFITS TRUST FUND.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Chapter 87A, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:
"§87A- Rules; dependent-beneficiaries; military deployment. The board shall adopt rules pursuant to chapter 91 that provide for the extension of health benefits coverage for a dependent-beneficiary who is an unmarried child of an employee-beneficiary and over the age of twenty-four; provided that:
(1) The dependent-beneficiary was a member of a reserve component of the United States armed forces and was ordered to active duty in federal service while the dependent-beneficiary was a full-time student under the age of twenty-four; and
(2) The extended health benefits coverage provided under this section shall be limited to the time period during which the dependent-beneficiary is on active duty pursuant to paragraph (1)."
SECTION 2. New statutory material is underscored.
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
