A BILL FOR AN ACT

relating to waste MANAGEMENT.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

     SECTION 1.  Chapter 340A, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

     "§340A-   Bulky waste. (a)  No person shall set out bulky waste earlier than 5:00 p.m. on the day before the scheduled pick-up.  Any person found in violation of this section shall be subject to a fine not to exceed $    .

For purposes of this section, "bulky waste" means any household furniture, mattresses, bed frames and box springs, rolled up and fastened carpeting, appliances, and minor home repairs or remodeling materials not to exceed one cubic yard.

(b)  Nothing in this section is intended to abrogate or affect the provisions of any lawful county ordinance that is more restrictive than this section."

     SECTION 2.  New statutory material is underscored.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
