A BILL FOR AN ACT
RELATING TO FAMILY LEAVE.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Chapter 398, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:
"§398- Notification of rights. Not less than once a year, an employer shall provide written notice to each of its employees informing the employees of the employees' rights under this chapter particularly with respect to caring for a seriously ill family member. The employer shall also provide information relating to possible adverse impacts that the taking of family leave may have on any other employee rights, entitlements, or benefits provided by the employer or required by law."
SECTION 2. This Act does not affect rights and duties that matured, penalties that were incurred, and proceedings that were begun, before its effective date.
SECTION 3. New statutory material is underscored.
SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
