A BILL FOR AN ACT

RELATING TO VETERANS CEMETERIES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

     SECTION 1.  The veterans cemeteries across the State, particularly on the neighbor islands, are in chronic disrepair due to deferred maintenance.  The purpose of this Act is to make an appropriation to the counties for the repair and improvements to veterans cemeteries.

     SECTION 2.  There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $           or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2009-2010 and the same sum or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2010-2011 for the repair and improvement to veterans cemeteries, to be allocated among the counties as follows:

     City and county of Honolulu           $          

     County of Hawaii                      $          

     County of Maui                        $          

     County of Kauai                       $          

          Total                             $          .

     The sums appropriated shall be expended by the department of defense for the purposes of this Act.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2009.
