A BILL FOR AN ACT
relating to attorneys fees.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Chapter 661, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:
"§661‑ Attorney's fees in actions against the State. In any civil proceeding initiated against the State, no attorney's fees shall be awarded against the State except where an award of attorney's fees against the State is specifically permitted by law."
SECTION 2. New statutory material is underscored.
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
