A BILL FOR AN ACT
RELATING TO the department of EDUCATION.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Chapter 302A, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:
"§302A- Parent organizations; training. (a) The department shall develop and assist in providing training for officers and staff of parent organizations, to assist in understanding the responsibilities and liabilities of their respective roles, including the areas of finance and record keeping.
(b) For purposes of this section, "parent organization" means any group that is formed for the purpose of supporting and advocating for children in public education, whether at the school, complex, or state level, including parent teacher associations and parent teacher student associations."
SECTION 2. New statutory material is underscored.
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
