A BILL FOR AN ACT
relating to the state of hawaii.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Section 612-7, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended to read as follows:
"§612-7 Excused when[,];
for cause. A prospective juror in state court, shall not be excused
by a court for a slight or trivial cause, but only when it appears that
jury duty would entail a serious personal hardship[,] or [that]
for other good cause, in which case, the prospective juror [should]
may be excused either temporarily or otherwise."
SECTION 2. Statutory material to be repealed is bracketed and stricken. New statutory material is underscored.
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
