HOUSE RESOLUTION
REQUESTING THE HIGH TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION TO coordinate initiatives within the community which address energy innovation with the organizers of energy awards and programs, and assist in their outreach to the Hawaii community.
WHEREAS, a strong, diversified economy is essential to the well-being of the State of Hawaii; and
WHEREAS, several venues of honoring and assisting innovation already exist within the Hawaii community; and
WHEREAS, the State should encourage innovation within the commercial high technology industry sector for the State to remain productive and withstand the changes and challenges of the 21st century economy; and
WHEREAS, in 2005, the Legislature created the High Technology Development Corporation (HTDC) to assist in the diversification of the State's economy by facilitating the growth and development of the commercial high technology industry; and
WHEREAS, HTDC is concerned with the health of Hawaii's natural environment and is dedicated to creating designs and projects that increase sustainability and use energy-saving techniques; and
WHEREAS, the State supports innovative persons, projects and companies that incorporate energy-saving techniques, and the State recognizes that this is crucial to sustaining and promoting growth within Hawaii's commercial high technology industry sector and is beneficial to the state economy, environment, and our global community; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-fifth Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2010, that HTDC is requested to coordinate initiatives within the community which address energy innovation with the organizers of energy awards and programs, and assist in their outreach to the Hawaii community; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that certified copies of this Resolution be transmitted to the Board of Directors of the High Technology Development Corporation.
