HOUSE CONCURRENT

RESOLUTION

requesting the DEPARTMENT of accounting and GENERAL services to report on the fuel EFFICIENCY of vehicles in each executive agency's fleet.

WHEREAS, eighty per cent of the energy resources used in Hawaii and almost all of the fuel used by motor vehicles in Hawaii are imported from other countries or the mainland United States; and

WHEREAS, fuel costs make a up a significant portion of the motor vehicle fleet budgets of state government agencies, and the use of more fuel-efficient vehicles would result in savings to those agencies; and

WHEREAS, in addition to the budgetary benefits of fuel efficiency, state departments can improve the environment and reduce Hawaii's dependence on imported oil by increasing fuel efficiency in their vehicle fleets; and now, therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-fifth Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2010, the Senate concurring, that the Department of Accounting and General Services is requested to provide a report to the Legislature on the motor vehicle fleets of each executive agency under its administration containing information on:
