A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

RELATING TO TOURISM.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     Section 1.  (a)  The Hawaii tourism authority shall conduct a study to determine the feasibility of bringing sporting and cultural events from Asia to Hawaii for purposes of encouraging visitor and media travel to the state.

     (b)  The authority shall explore various types of sporting and cultural events from all areas of Asia.  The study shall include an analysis of potential costs and revenue if such events were held in Hawaii, including media-generated revenue.

     (c)  The Hawaii tourism authority shall submit a report of its findings and recommendations to the legislature no later than twenty days prior to the convening of the 2011 regular session.

     SECTION 2.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
