A BILL FOR AN ACT

relating to the department of education.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

     SECTION 1.  (a)  Not later than July 1, 2011, the department of education shall increase fees charged by services provided by the office of school facilities and support services to cover not less than one-half of the cost of those services; provided that the school meals program shall be exempt from the fee increase.

     (b)  This section shall not apply where the applicability would jeopardize the receipt of any federal funds.

     SECTION 2.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
