A BILL FOR AN ACT

relating to historic places.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

     SECTION 1.  Part I, of chapter 6E, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

     "§6E-    Historic property; recordation. (a)  Upon the order and entering of any historic property into the national register or Hawaii register of historic places, the state historic places review board shall record that status in the bureau of conveyances or the land court, as appropriate.

(b)  This section shall apply to any privately owned historic property and to any historic property owned or controlled by the State."

     SECTION 2.  By no later than June 30, 2012, the state historic places review board shall record in the bureau of conveyances, as specified in section 6E-   , Hawaii Revised Statutes, the status of all historic property in the State that has been entered into the national register or Hawaii register of historic places as of the effective date of this Act.

     SECTION 3.  New statutory material is underscored.

     SECTION 4.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
