A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

relating to salary and pension payments.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  Section 40-53, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by amending subsection (b) to read as follows:

     "(b)  All employees hired on or after July 1, 1998, shall designate a financial institution account into which the State is authorized to deposit the employee's pay[.]; provided that all employees hired prior to July 1, 1998, and who have not designated a financial account into which the State is authorized to deposit the employee's pay, shall designate such an account no later than           .  The comptroller may waive the requirements of this section for any state employee upon request by the head of the employing department under policies prescribed by the comptroller.  The implementation of this section shall not be subject to negotiation under chapter 89."

     SECTION 2.  Statutory material to be repealed is bracketed and stricken.  New statutory material is underscored.


     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2010.
