RELATING TO STATE REVENUES. Adds a $5 surcharge to the fee charged by a state agency for certain services. Requires the surcharge to be deposited into the general fund. (HB39 HD2)

RELATING TO TAX EXEMPTIONS. Conforms state tax exemptions to federal phaseout provisions under section 151(d)(3) of the IRC. Ties threshold to amounts in place in 2008. (HB1544 HD1)

RELATING TO TAXATION. Prohibits recipients of federal grants from qualifying for state tax credits. Deters tax fraud and promotes uniformity in the tax system by conforming Hawaii tax law to the Internal Revenue Code for preparer penalties and accuracy-related penalties. Effective 7/1/2050. RELATING TO THE GENERAL EXCISE TAX. Exempts from the general excise tax, amounts received by a common paymaster to pay employees of two or more related businesses, on behalf of the related businesses, where the applicable relationship is defined under Section 267(b) of the Internal Revenue Code. RELATING TO TAXATION. Authorizes each county to establish a retail sales tax on the sales of tangible personal property. (Proposed SD1)

· In person: 1 copy of their testimony to the committee clerk, Room 210, State Capitol.
· By fax: Testimony may be faxed if less than 5 pages in length, to the Senate Sergeant-At-Arms Office at 586-6659 or 1-800-586-6659 (toll free for neighbor islands), at least 24 hours prior to the hearing. When faxing, please indicate to which committee the testimony is being submitted and the date and time of the hearing.
Please note: If you submit your written testimony after 4:00 p.m. the day prior to the hearing, please sign-in at the staff table to testify orally. A copy of your testimony may not be available during the hearing but will be posted online for the public after the hearing.
If you require special assistance or auxiliary aids or services to participate in the public hearing process (i.e., sign or foreign language interpreter or wheelchair accessibility), please contact the committee clerk 24 hours prior to the hearing so arrangements can be made.
