Status

RELATING TO TRANSPORTATION.

Requires the department of transportation and the county transportation departments to seek to reasonably accommodate access and mobility for all users of highways, roads, and streets, including pedestrians, bicyclists, transit users, motorists, and persons of all abilities.  Establishes a temporary task force to review certain specified traffic policies and guidelines.  Report to legislature in 2010 and 2011.  (SD1)

RELATING TO HIGHWAYS.

Increases the state liquid fuel tax; state vehicle registration fee; state vehicle weight fee.  Establishes the land transportation modernization special fund.  Provides funding for a six-year comprehensive modernization program.  Effective 7/1/2050.  (SD2)

RELATING TO COMMERCIAL DRIVERS.

Revises standard for a court-issued license to drive for work‑related purposes.  Effective July 1, 2050.  (SD2)

RELATING TO TRANSPORTATION.

Provides that high occupancy vehicle lanes may be used by hybrid and other energy-efficient vehicles including plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, regardless of the number of occupants.  (SD1)

RELATING TO TRANSPORTATION.

Allows for the operation of larger articulated buses used for public transit purposes on public roadways.  (SD1)

RELATING TO AIRPORT CONCESSIONS.

Requires the department of transportation to periodically review airport concession leases.  Allows the DOT to adjust the lease rent to what is reasonable and affordable for the concession.  Sunsets 7/1/2014.  (SD1)

Status

RELATING TO THE PASSENGER FACILITY CHARGE SPECIAL FUND.

Amends the authorized use of the passenger facility charge special fund to be used for bonds and establishes subaccounts within the special fund for airport capital improvement projects.  Effective on 07/01/2050.  (SD2)

Status

RELATING TO THE RENTAL MOTOR VEHICLE AND TOUR VEHICLE SURCHARGE TAX.

Increases the rental motor vehicle and tour vehicle surcharge tax to an unspecified amount, with an unspecified portion to be deposited into the general fund beginning 7/1/2009.  (SD3)

Persons wishing to offer comments should submit testimony at least 24 hours prior to the hearing with a transmittal cover indicating:

·     The Committee the comments are directed to;

·     The date and time of the hearing;

·     Measure number; and

Testimony submitted will be placed on the Legislative Web site after the hearing adjourns.  This public posting of testimony on the Web site should be considered when including personal information in your testimony.
