RELATING TO VETERAN BURIAL GRANTS.

Requires Office of Veterans' Services to make burial grant payments for burial costs and for transportation to the Philippines of the remains of a deceased veteran who joined the New Filipino Scouts between 10/06/1945 and 06/30/1947 and died after 06/30/2004.  Appropriates funds.  (HB556 HD2)

RELATING TO POLICY ADVISORY BOARD ON VETERANS' SERVICES.

Requires the Governor, in making appointments, to ensure that members of the Policy Advisory Board on Veterans' Services represent all minority viewpoints, including issues of concern to women veterans.  (HB632 HD1)

Appropriates funds for one veterans' counselor position for the Maui office of the office of veterans' services.  Takes effect July 1, 2020.  (HB658 HD1)

RELATING TO MILITARY AFFAIRS.

Creates the military affairs liaison special fund within a nonprofit entity to support the nonprofit entity's duties as the state liaison in matters relating to the military.  Requires adjutant general, with the governor's concurrence, to select the nonprofit entity.  Appropriates funds to the special fund.  Takes effect July 1, 2020.  (HB1831 HD2)

·         By Web: Testimony may be submitted online if less than 4MB in size, at http://www.capitol.hawaii.gov/emailtestimony.

 

·         In person:  1 copy of their testimony to the committee clerk, Room 207, State Capitol.

 

·         By fax:  Testimony may be faxed if less than 5 pages in length, to the Senate Sergeant-At-Arms Office at 586-6659 or 1-800-586-6659 (toll free for neighbor islands), at least 24 hours prior to the hearing.  When faxing, please indicate to which committee the testimony is being submitted and the date and time of the hearing.

 

Please note:  If you submit your written testimony after 4:00 p.m. the day prior to the hearing, please sign-in at the staff table to testify orally.  A copy of your testimony may not be available during the hearing but will be posted online for the public after the hearing. 

 

If you require special assistance or auxiliary aids or services to participate in the public hearing process (i.e., sign or foreign language interpreter or wheelchair accessibility), please contact the committee clerk 24 hours prior to the hearing so arrangements can be made.
