RELATING TO FAMILY COURTS.

Requires a minor adjudicated of actions that would constitute promoting a controlled substance to choose either detention in youth correctional facility or substance abuse counseling program with parents or legal guardians.

RELATING TO THE INTERSTATE COMPACT FOR JUVENILES.

Adopts the new Interstate Compact for Juveniles and establishes the family court's jurisdiction under the compact.

Status

RELATING TO CHILDREN.

Establishes a task force to examine situations resulting in a child fatality or a serious injury due to drug use by a parent, guardian, or caregiver, and develop a plan to prevent such situations from occurring.  Establishes a system for the Department of Human Services to allow children to continue to reside in pre-existing caregivers' safe homes rather than enter into foster care, subject to certain conditions.

Status

RELATING TO TEMPORARY RESTRAINING ORDERS.

Requires the judiciary to establish a three-year statewide pilot project for the electronic filing of requests for and issuance of domestic abuse temporary restraining orders on nights and weekends.  Makes an appropriation.

DECISION MAKING TO FOLLOW

 

Persons wishing to offer comments should submit testimony at least 24 hours prior to the hearing with a transmittal cover indicating:

·     Testifier's name with position/title and organization;

·     The Committee the comments are directed to;

·     The date and time of the hearing;

·     Measure number; and

·     The number of copies the Committee is requesting. 

 

While every effort will be made to copy, organize, and collate all testimony received, materials received on the day of the hearing or improperly identified or directed to the incorrect office, may be distributed to the Committee after the hearing.

Testimony submitted will be placed on the Legislative Web site after the hearing adjourns.  This public posting of testimony on the Web site should be considered when including personal information in your testimony.
