RELATING TO REGISTERED NURSES.

Removes, for a foreign nursing school graduate applying for licensure by examination for registered nurses in Hawaii, the requirement to obtain certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools. Requires the Board of Nursing to adopt rules requiring submission of the Breakdown of Educational Program for International Nursing Programs form and a certified school transcript. (HB811 HD2)

RELATING TO NURSE AIDES.

Specifies the renewal period for the recertification of nurse aides and the number of continuing education hours for their recertification. Effective 07/01/2020. (HB814 HD2)

RELATING TO TAX ON TOBACCO PRODUCTS OTHER THAN CIGARETTES.

Increases the tobacco tax on tobacco products other than cigarettes from 40 percent to 80 percent of the wholesale price and deposits an unspecified percentage of the proceeds collected into the Community Health Centers Special Fund. (HB895 HD2)

RELATING TO TAXATION.

Increases the cigarette tax from 10 cents per cigarette to 20 cents per cigarette beginning July 1, 2009. Effective July 1, 2020. (HB1175 HD3)

RELATING TO THE TRANSITIONING OF THE REGIONS AND FACILITIES OF HAWAII HEALTH SYSTEMS CORPORATION.

Authorizes a facility or regional health care system under the Hawaii health systems corporation to transition into a new legal entity, including a nonprofit or for-profit corporation, municipal facility, or public benefit corporation.

RELATING TO AUTOMATED EXTERNAL DEFIBRILLATORS.

Specifies that any person who provides for an automated external defibrillator training program is generally immune from vicarious civil liability resulting from any act or omission of a Good Samaritan attempting to use the device to resuscitate a person. (HB1537 HD1)
