Bases University of Hawaii general funding on a student-weighted formula.

Makes an appropriation for the planning, design, and construction for a second access road for leeward community college.

Status

RELATING TO THE UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII.

Authorizes the board of regents of the University of Hawaii to issue additional revenue bonds in the principal amount of $150,000,000 for the purpose of financing the costs of construction or maintenance of capital improvement projects constituting university projects.  Appropriates the proceeds of the initial $100,000,000 of the revenue bonds (as authorized by Act 161, SLH 2007), in the current fiscal year and any of the fiscal years thereafter, to and including fiscal year 2012-2013.  Appropriates the proceeds of the additional $150,000,000 in the current fiscal year and any of the fiscal years thereafter, to and including fiscal year 2014-2015.

RELATING TO HEALTH PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION.

Appropriates funds to support the Hawaii Quentin Burdick rural health interdisciplinary training program.

RELATING TO QUALIFIED TUITION PROGRAMS.

Provides an annual maximum deduction of $5,000 per individual or $10,000 for a married couple filing jointly for contributions made to a section 529 qualified tuition program in 2009 and thereafter.

DECISION MAKING TO FOLLOW

Testimony submitted will be placed on the Legislative Web site after the hearing adjourns.  This public posting of testimony on the Web site should be considered when including personal information in your testimony.
