The purpose of this informational briefing is to hear the progress of the Greenhouse Gas Emissions Reduction Task Force, which was created by Act 234 in 2007 to prepare a work plan and regulatory scheme to lower the statewide greenhouse gas emissions levels to or below 1990 levels by January 1, 2020.
Presentation by Dr. Chip Fletcher of the University of Hawai‘i School of Ocean & Earth Science & Technology about the impacts in Hawai‘i of sea level rise caused by climate change due to increasing levels of greenhouse gases.
Presentation by Dr. Denise Konan of the University of Hawai‘i Economic Research Organization about an analysis of the economic impact of climate change.
Presentation by Laurence Lau, deputy director of the Department of Health for Environmental Health Administration, about an overview of Act 234 and the activities of the Greenhouse Gas Emissions Reduction Task Force.
Presentation by Dr. Makena Coffman of the Greenhouse Gas Emissions Reduction Task Force with ICF International via teleconference about the Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventory update done in accordance with Act 234.
