The purpose of this informational briefing is to investigate the island-wide power outage on O‘ahu on December 26, 2008:
Presentation by the Hawaii Restaurant Association
Presentation by the Hawaii Food Industry Association
Presentation by the Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii
Presentation by the Healthcare Association of Hawaii
Presentation by the Consumer Advocate
Presentation by the Public Utilities Commission
Presentation by Hawaiian Electric Company:
Questions from the public – Questions from the public must be submitted in writing no later than 4 p.m. on Tuesday, January 13, 2009, and must pertain to the power outage. Limited to one question per person. Questions about individual claims for damages will not be allowed. The committee chairs will ask the questions of the presenters.
Capitol TV is scheduled to videotape for broadcast.
Persons may submit a question in written form with their name on letter-sized paper in one of the following ways by 4:00 p.m. the day prior to the hearing:
· In person: 1 copy of their question to the committee clerk, Room 201, State Capitol.
· By fax: To the Senate Sergeant-At-Arms Office at 586-6659 or 1-800-586-6659 (toll free for neighbor islands), at least 24 hours prior to the hearing. When faxing, please indicate to which committee the testimony is being submitted and the date and time of the hearing.
· By Web: May be submitted online if less than 4MB in size, at http://www.capitol.hawaii.gov/emailtestimony.
· By Email: May be emailed to the Committee at ENETestimony@Capitol.hawaii.gov . Please indicate the measure, date and time of the hearing. Email sent to individual offices or any other Senate office will not be accepted.
If you require special assistance or auxiliary aids or services to participate in the public hearing process (i.e., sign or foreign language interpreter, wheelchair accessibility, or parking designated for the disabled) please contact the committee clerk 24 hours prior to the hearing so arrangements can be made.
