Codifies the selection of the student member of the board of education in statute; clarifies that the board of education may determine any restrictions on actions taken by the student member; requires that the Act take effect upon the ratification of a constitutional amendment to require that the student member of the board of education shall be a voting member who is selected as provided by law.

PROPOSING AN AMENDMENT TO ARTICLE X, SECTION 2, OF THE HAWAII CONSTITUTION, TO CLARIFY THE SELECTION OF THE STUDENT MEMBER OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION.

Proposes a constitutional amendment to article x, section 2, of the State constitution to clarify the selection of the student member of the board of education.

·         By Email:  Testimony may be emailed if less than 5 pages in length, to the Committee at EDHTestimony@Capitol.hawaii.gov .  Please indicate the measure, date and time of the hearing. Email sent to individual offices or any other Senate office will not be accepted.

 

Please note:  If you submit your written testimony after 4:30 p.m. the day prior to the hearing, please sign-in at the staff table to testify orally.  A copy of your testimony may not be available during the hearing but will be posted online for the public after the hearing.
