RELATING TO INSURANCE. Requires insurers that offer health care coverage to the regular employees of any group or association to offer the same coverage to part-time employees working at least 15 hours per week. Requires the Insurance Commissioner to report to submit a cost-benefit report to the Legislature. (HB690 HD1)

RELATING TO INSURANCE. Makes various clarifying and technical amendments, and corrects inadvertent errors, in the Life Settlements Model Act, chapter 431E, HRS, which establishes consumer protections in life settlement transactions.

RELATING TO PUBLICATION OF HEARING NOTICES. Saves money by allowing the Public Utility Commission to provide hearing notices to only the island(s) affected by a public utility proposal for change in utility rates and ratemaking procedures. Hearing notices will continue to be sent to those directly impacted by any proposed changes.

RELATING TO GAS PIPELINE SYSTEMS. Repeals the Public Utilities Commission's responsibility for pipeline safety and inspection functions in Hawaii because this has been the responsibility of the Federal Office of Pipeline Safety since 1993.

RELATING TO TAXATION. Repeals the sunset provision relating to the one cent tax on naphtha fuel used in a power-generating facility. (HB371 HD1)

RELATING TO NURSE AIDES. Specifies the renewal period for the recertification of certified nurse aides and the number of continuing education hours for their recertification. (HB814 HD1)

RELATING TO CONSUMER PROTECTION. Prohibits the Office of Consumer Protection from making consumer complaints publicly available in cases where the complaint was resolved in favor of the business against which the complaint was filed.

DECISION MAKING TO FOLLOW
Persons wishing to offer comments should submit testimony at least 24 hours prior to the hearing with a transmittal cover indicating:
· Testifier's name with position/title and organization;
· The Committee the comments are directed to;
· The date and time of the hearing;
· Measure number; and
· The number of copies the Committee is requesting.
While every effort will be made to copy, organize, and collate all testimony received, materials received on the day of the hearing or improperly identified or directed to the incorrect office, may be distributed to the Committee after the hearing.

Testimony submitted will be placed on the Legislative Web site after the hearing adjourns. This public posting of testimony on the Web site should be considered when including personal information in your testimony.
