RELATING TO CONDOMINIUMS.

Makes variety of amendments to the recodified condominium law to clarify and improve implementation of its provisions.  Requires insurers to provide summary to association board of directors of association insurance policy.

RELATING TO CONDOMINIUMS.

Limits any late fee for delinquent condominium common expenses to 20% of the monthly maintenance fee.  Requires an association to give a unit owner 10 business days notice of any delinquent assessments before taking any action for which attorneys' fees may be assessed.

Allows the investment of condominium association funds in obligations of the counties or their agencies.

Allows the board of directors of an association to allow owners to install antennas for amateur radios.  Requires a written statement of the reasons for a denial.

RELATING TO INSURANCE.

Requires a business to provide commercial motor vehicle insurance coverage for delivery persons who use their own motor vehicles to make deliveries for the business.

RELATING TO CONSUMER CREDIT REPORTING AGENCIES.

Bars credit reporting agencies from charging consumers who are at least 65 years old a fee for placing, lifting, or removing a security freeze on their credit reports.  Provides an expedited manner for temporarily lifting a security freeze.

Status

RELATING TO PAYDAY LENDING.

Requires check cashing (deferred deposit) businesses to register with DCCA, post and provide consumers with rate, fee, and other information, keep records, and report to DCCA; regulates payment plans; exempts check casher fees and interest from general excise tax; regulates retailers who occasionally cash checks.

Testimony submitted will be placed on the Legislative Web site after the hearing adjourns.  This public posting of testimony on the Web site should be considered when including personal information in your testimony.
