RELATING TO THE HAWAII REGISTERED AGENTS ACT.

Adopts provisions of the Model Registered Agents Act, which streamlines business registration filings for registered agents who accept service of process on behalf of businesses in Hawaii, particularly commercial agents who are in the business of serving as agents.  (SD2)

RELATING TO LIQUOR.

Makes various administrative, technical amendments to the liquor license and liquor tax laws.

RELATING TO ESCROW DEPOSITORIES.

Revises the escrow depository law to: (1) clarify which escrow transactions are covered by the statute and which are not; (2) update the statute to adequately reflect the present day size of the transactions routinely handled by the industry; (3) provide for more flexibility in supervising and regulating the industry; and (4) ensure adequate protection for the consumer.  (SD1)

Status

RELATING TO MORTGAGE LOAN ORIGINATORS.

Allows the commissioner of financial institutions to regulate, license, examine, and enforce laws regulating mortgage brokers and loan originators.  Repeals chapter 454, HRS, relating to mortgage brokers and solicitors.  (SD2)

Testimony submitted will be placed on the Legislative Web site after the hearing adjourns.  This public posting of testimony on the Web site should be considered when including personal information in your testimony.
