STAND. COM. REP. NO. 1344
Honolulu, Hawaii
, 2009
RE: H.C.R. No. 148
Honorable Calvin K.Y. Say
Speaker, House of Representatives
Twenty-Fifth State Legislature
Regular Session of 2009
State of Hawaii
Sir:
Your Committee on Health, to which was referred H.C.R. No. 148 entitled:
"HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION URGING A STATE-LED COORDINATED EFFORT BY THE HEALTH CARE AND TECHNOLOGY COMMUNITIES TO ENSURE THAT HAWAII IS ABLE TO RAPIDLY RESPOND TO AND QUALIFY FOR GRANT MONEY OFFERED IN THE AMERICAN RECOVERY AND REINVESTMENT ACT OF 2009 FOR HEALTH CARE INFORMATION EXCHANGE TECHNOLOGY,"
begs leave to report as follows:
The purpose of this concurrent resolution is to ensure that Hawaii can take full advantage of federal health information technology grant funding provided in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA), by urging the Department of Health (DOH), Department of Human Services, and Department of Business, Economic Development, and Tourism to work jointly in coordinating stakeholders in the health care and technology communities to ensure that Hawaii is able to rapidly respond to and qualify for grant moneys offered in ARRA for health care information exchange technology.
DOH, Hawaii Health Systems Corporation, Hawaii Medical Service Association, and Kaiser Permanente Hawaii supported this concurrent resolution.
As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Health that is attached to this report, your Committee concurs with the intent and purpose of H.C.R. No. 148 and recommends that it be referred to the Committee on Finance.
Respectfully submitted on behalf of the members of the Committee on Health,
