A BILL FOR AN ACT
RELATING TO CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE 11th SENATORIAL DISTRICt.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. The following sums, or so much thereof as shall be sufficient to finance the projects listed in this Act, are hereby appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii for fiscal year 2009-2010.
1. To be expended by the department of education:
A. King William C. Lunalilo elementary school, Honolulu
Electrical evaluation and electrical panel and circuitry upgrade and installation of additional outlets in classrooms $ 600,000
Installation of school-wide water sprinkler system 500,000
Resurfacing of basketball court and purchase of new hoops 200,000
Furniture replacement 30,000
Total funding $ 1,330,000
B. Washington middle school, Honolulu
1. Construction of single story "T" shaped building to serve as a parent and community center.

2. Construction of a new elevator for H building to make science labs and art classrooms accessible to wheelchair students.

3. Retrofit current keyboarding classroom into a digital media studio capable of school-wide live broadcasting as well as digital student work production and electrical upgrade to include air conditioning to preserve digital media equipment.

4. 2. School master plan development to provide clear direction for future capital improvement projects, including identification of land area available for structures to meet school and program needs for the next ten years.

3. Renovation and expansion of gymnasium to comply with Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, including new floor, improvements to boys and girls locker room facilities, upgrade of plumbing system, design of concession area, training room, wrestling/cheerleading practice area, ticket booth, renovation of teacher office area, improvement and increase of seating capacity of gymnasium.

4. 200-stall multilevel parking structure.

SECTION 2. The sums appropriated for the respective capital projects set forth in section 1 shall be expended by the designated expending agency for the purposes of this Act.
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2009.
