A BILL FOR AN ACT
relating to capital improvement projects for the benefit of the eighteenth senatorial district.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. The following sums, or so much thereof as shall be sufficient to finance the projects listed in this Act, are hereby appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii for fiscal year 2009-2010:
1. To be expended by the department of education:
A. Waipahu elementary school
New eight-classroom building (continued financing)

B. August Ahrens elementary school
New classroom/administration building
Construction $ 15,650,000

Design and construction of walls (room dividers) to separate the classrooms, H1/H2, H3/H4, H5/H6, G1/G2, G3/G4, L1/L2, and J1/J2 with a permanent barrier and the design, construction, and installation of two solar exhaust ventilators in each of the rooms to assist in the ventilation $ 260,000

2. To be expended by the department of accounting and general services:
A. Farrington highway sidewalk improvement
Waipahu intermediate school to Waipahu Depot Road, makai side
Construction $ 25,000,000
Design 3,000,000
Total funding $ 28,000,000
SECTION 2. The sums appropriated for the respective capital projects set forth in section 1 shall be expended by the designated expending agency for the purposes of this Act.
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2009.
