HOUSE RESOLUTION

 

 

honoring and commending ariel y. abadilla consulate general of honolulu, hawaii for his tireless and dedicated work and commitment on behalf of the Filipino community.

 

 

 

     WHEREAS, the professional and cultural contributions to Hawaii of diplomatic missions from foreign nations are of significant value to Hawaii's rich multicultural and international heritage; and

 

     WHEREAS, ARIEL Y. ABADILLA served the Department of Foreign Affairs for four decades, as the Deputy Chief of Mission subsequently Charge d'Affaires at the Philippine embassy in Washington D.C.; Consul General in Sydney Australia; Minister and subsequently Charge d'Affaires in Beijing, China; and mid-level officer at the Philippine Mission to the United Nations in New York, and consulates in Houston, Seattle, and New York; and

 

     WHEREAS, prior to his assignment as Consul General in Hawaii, ARIEL Y. ABADILLA was the assistant secretary to the Office of American Affairs, and Department of Foreign Affairs, director of the Treaties and Passport Division, and served as Deputy Chief of Protocol, and later Chief of Protocol; and

 

     WHEREAS, ARIEL Y. ABADILLA received a Bachelor of Art degree in Political Science, a law degree from Ateneo de Manila, and was an alumnus of the Academy of American and International Law at Dallas, Texas; and

 

     WHEREAS, ARIEL Y. ABADILLA is the 17th diplomatic official to lead the Consulate General in Hawaii, and began his term of duty in December of 2005; and

 

     WHEREAS, as Consul General of the Philippines in Honolulu, Hawaii, Consul General ARIEL Y. ABADILLA has helped to shape the unique cultural landscape of our central-pacific State; and

 

     WHEREAS, throughout his career, ARIEL Y. ABADILLA's record of conduct, performance, and devotion to duty reflects his allegiance to the highest standard and has brought proficiency and expertise especially when taking on challenging assignments; and

 

     WHEREAS, ARIEL Y. ABADILLA has a long history of distinguished service to the Filipino community and has brought a wealth of experience to serve to the Philippine Consulate General of Honolulu, Hawaii; now, therefore,

 

     BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-fifth Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2009, that this body hereby commends and honors Consul General ARIEL Y. ABADILLA for his tireless and dedicated work and commitment on behalf of the Filipino community, and extends to him its warmest aloha and best wishes for continued success in all future endeavors.
