HOUSE CONCURRENT
RESOLUTION
requesting the Kahalu‘u neighborhood board to convene a WORKING group to CONDUCT A STUDY relating to the acquisition, use, and development of the former noriko's property in kahalu‘u, OAHU.
WHEREAS, the former Noriko's property is in Kahalu‘u on the island of Oahu; and
WHEREAS, the former Noriko's property consists of two parcels of land containing 2.01 acres, designated by tax map keys 4-7-11-8 and 4-7-11-18, located on the makai side of Kamehemeha Highway just north of the highway's intersection with Kahekili Highway; and
WHEREAS, there is great concern that the former Noriko's property is currently under-utilized given its location at the core of the Kahalu‘u community; and
WHEREAS, the former Noriko's property has significant economic and civic value to the Kahalu‘u community and should be used and developed in a manner that supports the community and reflects the local character and traditions of Kahalu‘u; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-fifth Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2009, the Senate concurring, that the Kahalu‘u Neighborhood Board is requested to convene a working group to conduct a study, including gathering input, discussing pertinent issues and options, and recommending legislative action or other proposals relating to the acquisition, use, and development of the former Noriko's property in Kahalu‘u, Oahu; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that it is requested that the working group be composed of all interested parties, including the current owner and lessee of the former Noriko's property, adjoining landowners and lessees, and community members; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the working group is requested to consult with the Department of Land and Natural Resources and other relevant state entities and non-profit organizations about the feasibility of acquiring the former Noriko's property; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the working group is requested to report its findings and recommendations to the Legislature, including any legislative proposals, no later than twenty days prior to the convening of the 2010 Regular Session; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a certified copy of this Concurrent Resolution be transmitted to the Governor, the Representative from the Forty-seventh District of the House of Representatives, the Senator from the Twenty-third District of the Senate, and the Chairperson of the Kahalu‘u Neighborhood Board.
