A BILL FOR AN ACT


 

 

RELATING TO FAMILY LEAVE.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  Chapter 398, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

     "§398-    Notification of rights.  Every employer shall post and keep posted, notices informing employees of their rights under this chapter, particularly with respect to caring for a seriously ill family member, and also providing information relating to possible adverse impacts that the taking of family leave may have on any other employee rights, entitlements, or benefits provided by the employer or required by law.  The notices shall be posted in conspicuous places in every establishment where any employee is employed so as to permit the employee to observe readily a copy on the way to or from the employee's place of employment."

     SECTION 2.  This Act does not affect rights and duties that matured, penalties that were incurred, and proceedings that were begun, before its effective date.

 

     SECTION 3.  New statutory material is underscored.

     SECTION 4.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
