A BILL FOR AN ACT

RELATING TO EDUCATION.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

     SECTION 1.  Act 51, Session Laws of Hawaii 2004, is amended by amending section 49 to read as follows:

     "SECTION 49.  No later than July 1, 2005, the board of education shall adopt a single school calendar for all public schools beginning with the 2006-2007 school year, provided that this section shall not apply to multi-track schools, [new century] start-up charter schools, [and new century] conversion charter schools[.], and public schools on Molokai."

     SECTION 2.  Statutory material to be repealed is bracketed and stricken.  New statutory material is underscored.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
