Status

RELATING TO CHILD SUPPORT ENFORCEMENT.

Clarifies the notice requirement to custodial parents in the Child Support Enforcement Agency (CSEA) law with regard to income tax refund setoff.  Establishes a CSEA assistant administrator position.  Clarifies rules relating to CSEA hearings and related matters.  (SB2977 HD1)

Status

RELATING TO RECORDS OF DEFENDANTS COMMITTED TO A HOSPITAL CONTROLLED BY THE DIRECTOR OF HEALTH OR TO CUSTODY OF DIRECTOR OF HEALTH.

Requires the courts to provide the director of health with the records of defendants court-ordered to the state hospital or related facility under the cognizance of the department. (SD2)

Status

RELATING TO MENTAL HEALTH.

Makes assault of a person employed at a state-operated or ‑contracted mental health facility a class C felony.  Requires the department of health to submit an annual report on forensic patients; requires yearly court status hearings for individuals ordered to be conditionally released or hospitalized as an inpatient by the mental health court; reduces the minimum length of hospitalization from ninety to thirty days for individuals who are recommitted after conditional release; makes appropriation for mental health court operations.  (SB2396 HD1)

DECISION MAKING TO FOLLOW

 

Persons wishing to offer comments should submit testimony at least 24 hours prior to the hearing with a transmittal cover indicating:

·     Testifier's name with position/title and organization;

·     The Committee the comments are directed to;

·     The date and time of the hearing;

·     Measure number; and

·     The number of copies the Committee is requesting. 

 

While every effort will be made to copy, organize, and collate all testimony received, materials received on the day of the hearing or improperly identified or directed to the incorrect office, may be distributed to the Committee after the hearing.

 

Submit testimony in ONE of the following ways:

FAX:        For comments less than 5 pages in length, transmit to 586-9456 (Oahu) or 1-800-535-3859 (Neighbor Islands); or

EMAIL:    For comments less than 5 pages in length, transmit to JUDtestimony@Capitol.hawaii.gov.

 

Testimony submitted will be placed on the Legislative Web site after the hearing adjourns.  This public posting of testimony on the Web site should be considered when including personal information in your testimony.
