The Senate Committee on Human Services and Public Housing and the House Committee on Human Services and Housing will meet to address various issues related to public housing.

 

The public and legislature will be updated about progress being made to renovate various public housing units and the status of repair and maintenance projects for all public housing projects across the State of Hawaii will be provided by the Hawaii Public Housing Authority.

 

There will also be a presentation by a representative from Urban Housing Communities on public housing renovation and rehabilitation.  It will it will describe alternatives to financing other than total public underwriting.

 

If you require special assistance or auxiliary aids or services to participate in the public hearing process (i.e., sign or foreign language interpreter, wheelchair accessibility, or parking designated for the disabled) please contact the committee clerk 24 hours prior to the hearing so arrangements can be made.

 

Written testimony will be accepted by representatives of the tenant associations and can be e-mailed to senchunoakland@capitol.hawaii.gov or faxed to 586-6131. Written testimony can also be provided on the day of the briefing.  No oral testimony will be accepted at this meeting due to time constraints.
