The Senate Committee on Energy and Environment and the House Committee on Energy and Environmental Protection will jointly hear a presentation by Judge Larry Potter of Tennessee.

In 1991, Judge Potter helped write a law that created a county wide Environmental Court with injunctive authority to strongly deal with environmental problems confronting Memphis and Shelby County. Their efforts were a dramatic success, and by year-end, the Tennessee State Legislature established the Shelby County Environmental Court, making it the first county wide court of this type in the nation.

As this is an informational briefing and not a hearing, no public testimony will be accepted.

If you require special assistance or auxiliary aids or services to participate in the public hearing process (i.e., sign or foreign language interpreter, wheelchair accessibility, or parking designated for the disabled) please contact the committee clerk 24 hours prior to the hearing so arrangements can be made.

Please note:  Documents made available through the Testimony hyperlink(s) above may not be posted until the start of the hearing.

FOR FURTHER INFORMATION, PLEASE CALL THE COMMITTEE CLERK AT 586-6740
