RELATING TO WATER.

Imposes a 5 cent surcharge for bottled water produced or distributed in the State to protect watershed areas and to fight invasive species.

RELATING TO RENEWABLE ENERGY.

Establishes a renewable energy facility siting process to expedite the review and action upon state and county permits necessary for the siting, development, construction, and operation of a renewable energy facility.

Establishes a consolidated process for the approval of permits for an interisland wind energy and undersea cable project.

RELATING TO SUSTAINABILITY.

Adopts the Hawaii 2050 sustainability plan.  Establishes a sustainability council to coordinate, implement, measure, and evaluate the progress of the Hawaii 2050 sustainability plan and activities.  Appropriates funds to the sustainability council.

DECISION MAKING TO FOLLOW

 

Persons wishing to offer comments should submit testimony at least 24 hours prior to the hearing with a transmittal cover indicating:

·     Testifier's name with position/title and organization;

·     The Committee the comments are directed to;

·     The date and time of the hearing;

·     Measure number;

·     The number of copies the Committee is requesting. 

 

While every effort will be made to copy, organize, and collate all testimony received, materials received on the day of the hearing or improperly identified or directed to the incorrect office, may be distributed to the Committee after the hearing.

 

Submit testimony in one of the following ways:

PAPER:    5 copies (including an original) to Room 405 in the State Capitol; or

EMAIL:    For comments less than 5 pages in length, transmit to EEPtestimony@Capitol.hawaii.gov.
