The purpose of this informational briefing is to provide an update on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) related initiatives funded by the 2007 Legislature:
Establishes the Hawaii Excellence Through Science and Technology (HI-EST) Academy pilot program, the Fostering Inspiration and Relevance Through Science and Technology (FIRST) Pre-Academy program, Robotics and Research Experiences for Teachers programs, and professional development program for science and mathematics teachers.
Speakers will include representatives from individual program providers, DOE, UH College of Engineering and DBEDT.
