The Committee will be reconsidering its March 11, 2008 decision on HB 2415, HD1 and will be accepting testimony on a proposed SD1. Copies of the proposed draft are available from the Senate Print Shop, on the Legislature's website at www.capitol.hawaii.gov, or by clicking on the link below.
RELATING TO HIGH TECHNOLOGY. Proposed SD1: Part I removes the $25,000 limit on HTDC grants to recipients of federal Small Business Innovation Research Phase I awards or contracts, or federal Small Business Technology Transfer Program awards; retains limit of 50 percent of the federal award or contract; requires HTDC to expend any remaining 2006-2007 funds on grants in 2008 and 2009 and to report to the 2009 and 2010 legislature on expenditures; part II repeals chapter 206M, part IV, HRS. RELATING TO HIGH TECHNOLOGY. Creates a high technology park on the island of Oahu. (HB3358 HD1)

RELATING TO TAXATION. Authorizes DOTax to study and evaluate the economic impact of existing and proposed State tax incentives. Authorizes DOTax to collect and evaluate information from January 1, 2002, as part of its annual survey of businesses that have benefited from various high technology tax incentives. Requires DOTax to report annually to the Legislature, until 2012, on its findings of the economic impact of the tax incentives. Appropriates funds. (HB2961 HD2)

RELATING TO THE HAWAII UNITED OKINAWA ASSOCIATION. Amends an appropriation for fiscal year 2006‑2007 to the Hawaii United Okinawa Association. (HB3279 HD1)

· By fax: Testimony may be faxed if less than 5 pages in length, to the Senate Sergeant-At-Arms Office at 586-6659 or 1-800-586-6659 (toll free for neighbor islands), at least 24 hours prior to the hearing. When faxing, please indicate to which committee the testimony is being submitted and the date and time of the hearing.
· By Email: Testimony may be emailed if less than 5 pages in length, to testimony@capitol.hawaii.gov. Please indicate to which committee the testimony is being submitted and the date and time of the hearing. Email sent to individual offices or any other Senate office will not be accepted.
