STAND. COM. REP. NO. 2913
Honolulu, Hawaii
RE: S.R. No. 19
S.D. 1
Honorable Colleen Hanabusa
President of the Senate
Twenty-Fourth State Legislature
Regular Session of 2008
State of Hawaii
Madam:
Your Committees on Human Services and Public Housing and Intergovernmental and Military Affairs, to which was referred S.R. No. 19 entitled:
"SENATE RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE UNITED STATES CONGRESS TO AUTHORIZE THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A NATIONAL MONUMENT FOR WOMEN IN WASHINGTON, D.C., TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR THE CONTRIBUTIONS TO LEADERSHIP BY AMERICA'S WOMEN,"
beg leave to report as follows:
The purpose of this measure is to request the United States Congress to give statutorily-required authorization for the establishment of a national monument to honor the contributions to leadership by America's women in Washington, D.C.
Testimony in support of this measure was submitted by one private citizen.
Your Committees find that women have made profound contributions to leadership throughout history and supporting the establishment of a national monument for women to bring greater recognition to these contributions is a worthwhile endeavor.
Your Committees have amended this measure by making nonsubstantive amendments throughout for the purposes of clarity and style.
As affirmed by the records of votes of the members of your Committees on Human Services and Public Housing and Intergovernmental and Military Affairs that are attached to this report, your Committees concur with the intent and purpose of S.R. No. 19, as amended herein, and recommend its adoption in the form attached hereto as S.R. No. 19, S.D. 1.
Respectfully submitted on behalf of the members of the Committees on Human Services and Public Housing and Intergovernmental and Military Affairs,
