STAND. COM. REP. NO. 3263
Honolulu, Hawaii
RE: S.C.R. No. 201
S.D. 1
Honorable Colleen Hanabusa
President of the Senate
Twenty-Fourth State Legislature
Regular Session of 2008
State of Hawaii
Madam:
Your Committees on Human Services and Public Housing and Health, to which was referred S.C.R. No. 201 entitled:
"SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE HAWAII HEALTH SYSTEMS CORPORATION TO ESTABLISH A TASK FORCE TO ASSIST IN DEVELOPING A MASTER PLAN FOR LONG-TERM CARE FOR LEAHI HOSPITAL,"
beg leave to report as follows:
The purpose of this measure is to request that the Oahu Regional Board of the Hawaii Health Systems Corporation convene a task force to assist in the development of a long-term care master plan for Leahi Hospital and adjacent state lands.
Testimony in support of this measure was submitted by the Oahu Region Hawaii Health Systems Corporation, the Oahu Regional Board of the Hawaii Health Systems Corporation, the Hawaii Alliance of Retired Americans, and Kokua Council.
Your Committees find that Leahi Hospital has begun the process of developing a master plan to address the State's long-term care public policy goals, that this master plan offers an opportunity to create innovative and effective models of long-term care services, including residential care, and that this important work would be further assisted by the task force established by this measure.
Your Committees have amended this measure by incorporating the oral comments made by the University of Hawaii to include as a task force member a representative of the University of Hawaii System, and include as a recipient of a certified copy of the measure the President of the University of Hawaii.
As affirmed by the records of votes of the members of your Committees on Human Services and Public Housing and Health that are attached to this report, your Committees concur with the intent and purpose of S.C.R. No. 201, as amended herein, and recommend its adoption in the form attached hereto as S.C.R. No. 201, S.D. 1.
Respectfully submitted on behalf of the members of the Committees on Human Services and Public Housing and Health,
