Madam:
Your Committee on Economic Development and Taxation, to which was referred H.B. No. 2909 entitled:
"A BILL FOR AN ACT RELATING TO THE FIFTIETH ANNIVERSARY OF STATEHOOD COMMISSION,"
begs leave to report as follows:
The purpose of this measure is to appropriate funds for fiscal year 2008-2009 to assist the Fiftieth Anniversary of Statehood Commission in carrying out its duties and activities pursuant to Act 140, Session Laws of Hawaii 2007.
Testimony in support of this measure was received from the 50th Anniversary of Statehood Commission.
Your Committee finds that this measure will allow the Commission to continue the development and implementation of events in 2009, to celebrate and commemorate the anniversary of Hawaii's admission as a state.
As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Economic Development and Taxation that is attached to this report, your Committee is in accord with the intent and purpose of H.B. No. 2909, and recommends that it pass Second Reading and be referred to the Committee on Ways and Means.
