STAND. COM. REP. NO. 3392
Honolulu, Hawaii
RE: H.B. No. 2009
S.D. 1
Honorable Colleen Hanabusa
President of the Senate
Twenty-Fourth State Legislature
Regular Session of 2008
State of Hawaii
Madam:
Your Committee on Ways and Means, to which was referred H.B. No. 2009, S.D. 1, entitled:
"A BILL FOR AN ACT RELATING TO CORRECTIONS,"
begs leave to report as follows:
The purpose of this measure is to repeal section 353-33, Hawaii Revised Statutes, which established the correctional program revolving fund to offset the cost of providing programs for inmates.
Testimony in support of this measure was submitted by the Department of Public Safety.
Your Committee finds that the Correctional Program Revolving Fund was closed in 1996 due to inactivity, and, accordingly, the section within the Hawaii Revised Statutes that addresses the fund and its operation should be repealed.
As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Ways and Means that is attached to this report, your Committee is in accord with the intent and purpose of H.B. No. 2009, S.D. 1, and recommends that it pass Third Reading.
Respectfully submitted on behalf of the members of the Committee on Ways and Means,
|
